Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I find out more about whether this is right for me?

We offer a free, 20 minute consultation with one of our psychotherapists so that you can find out more about the counselling and CBT therapies we offer and if these are right for you.

How many sessions will I need?

This depends on the individual.  Usually clients have 8-10 sessions but for some people 6 sessions is sufficient, and for others they need more than 10 before they feel confident to apply their new strategies and tools.  This is something that you and your psychotherapist will review together.

Do you offer sessions via Skype, Zoom or telephone call?

Yes.  We can work with you on Zoom, Skype and telephone calls.

If I want to see you in person, where do I go?

We are currently following the government lockdown guidelines and so all sessions will take place either by video link or telephone.  However, once the restrictions have been lifted, you can choose to have your sessions in person.  We have therapy rooms in Canterbury, Ashford, Deal and London.

Can I choose which psychotherapist I see?

Yes, you can state a preference in the contact form or email to us.  Some psychotherapists are specifically trained to work with adolescents or couples and so we will let you know if the psychotherapist is appropriately trained to work with you.  Read more about our psychotherapists here.

How do I pay?

You will receive an invoice at the end of each calendar month and payment shall be made by bank transfer within 2 weeks of the date of the invoice. Details will be provided during the first session about how to pay and what to do if you need to cancel or change a session.

Is it confidential?  Will this go on my health record?

Everything discussed in sessions remains confidential and will not show on your health records.   The only exception to this is if we assess that you or someone else is at risk of significant harm.   In this case your GP or another mental health service may be notified but this will be discussed with you beforehand.

What is CBT and how do I know if this right for me?

CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  Click here for more information.  In your first session, your psychotherapist will explain the different counselling models, including CBT, and agree with you the most appropriate one to use with you.
