I am a qualified Counsellor and CBT therapist, who is passionate about helping people with their psychological health and wellbeing, and the role that Cognitive Behavioural Therapies can play in changing people’s lives.  My approach is compassionate and gentle, but also active and interventionist to empower the client with knowledge, tools and strategies to identify and change destructive mindsets that impact so greatly on their wellbeing and achievement. I am trained to work with a wide range of issues but have a special interest in working with adults and adolescents suffering from Anxiety disorders and Depression.

My training covers Integrative counselling and psychotherapy which gives me a broad range of knowledge, skills and tools. I am trained to work with adults, children and adolescents. The core CBT model I use is Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy and from there I integrate treatment techniques where appropriate and beneficial for the client from other CBT models including Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing).

After completing my first degree at Oxford University, I spent 15 years working in businesses where I held a number of senior roles, responsible for large teams and budgets, across different business functions. I gained a great deal of insight about how people respond in pressurised situations and I now apply this experience in my psychotherapy work. I chose to retrain after having my second child as this is a profession that I felt passionate about. I love empowering people to understand and manage destructive thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that impact so greatly on their wellbeing and achievement.

I work as a sessional CBT Therapist for the Priory Group (Canterbury). Prior to this I have worked as a Counsellor for a NHS GP practice providing CBT and counselling to patients, a Counsellor working with adolescents and young adults at Canterbury College and a CBT Therapist for students at the University of Kent.

Working safely and ethically with my clients is of upmost importance to me. I am a Registered Member (00948332) of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and an Accredited Professional Registrant of the NCS (National Counselling Society).
